Area :
Finca
Vall den Rubi is situated in the southern part of Spanish
Catalonia.
This
finca is laying at an altitude of
500 meters
in the mountains, at the border of Bitem and Tortosa. Within a
half an hour痴 drive you値l be able to see breathtaking views
of the bays and virgin beaches of the
Mediterranean Sea
.
Bays
The
bays along the Mediterranean Costa Dorada are very impressive. The
clear turquoise blue water with the gold tone bays and sandy
beaches haven稚 been spoiled by big hotel chains and tourism as
of yet. Of course you値l find entertainment in the surrounding
villages and harbours, on the beaches and boulevards, or at a
terrace with live music. You could visit some of the many
traditional events being held there, or go to a summer market
where the old trades are displayed or where you can buy all kinds
of curiosa. Arts and crafts play an important role in
Catalonia, especially ceramics and paintings.
Ebro Delta
Bird
sanctuary the Ebro Delta is just a 15 minute drive away. You can
walk or cycle there forever. This Ebro Delta is about 320 kmイ,
thus being the second biggest swamp area of the western
Mediterranean
, after the French Camargue. In 1983 the Ebro Delta has been named
a natural habitat, where you値l find more than 300 species of
birds, among which flamingos, and various types of herons. However,
rare plants, amphibians, fish and invertebrate animals
can be found in the Ebrodelta as well.

Els
Ports
On
the opposite side you値l be looking at the mountain range of Els
Ports (Puertos de Beseit), a mountain-like setting. The Mont-Caro
forms the highest top at 1420 mtr. On a clear day when the mistral
is blowing, you値l be able to see as far as the
Pyrenees
in the north and the Balearen in the east. In winter there might
even be snow at times.
The
Els Ports are one of the most impressive Mediterranean mountain
ranges, because of its rustic lonesome landscapes, the vast
forests, and a rich variety of fauna.
One
of the most remarkable animals is the wild goat, symbol of the Els
Ports. But you値l also see birds like eagles, buzzards, owls and
various other birds of the forest.
As
far as mammals are concerned, you値l see the shy wildcat,
squirrels, otters or even the river crayfish still secretly living
in the crystal clear rivers, where numerous species of fish
originate from.
Tortosa
A
middle-aged city with plenty of Roman buildings. The
shopping centre, the Parador and Cathedral are the tourist
attractions. The
Ebro
River
flows across the city and is a paradise for the fishermen. The
green hills around Tortosa are used for farmers with olive,
almonds and/or citrus plantations.
